Shop 'til you drop!

We have the responsibility of helping Yumi complete a long gift list for her family, friends, and class mates back in Japan. This has proven to be much harder that I anticipated. I did not realize how few gift stores we have in our area. Another problem, is that the gift stores that we do have are filled with gifts made in China. So where do we find truly American made gifts, small enough to fit in a suitcase, and not outrageously expensive? I know we will be traveling to Springfield next week, but Yumi would like to begin her shopping now, and with the language barrier, it has been a little hard to explain our situation.

The pictures from today’s shopping trip are from Tinley Park. There were a few gift stores, but they did not provide the kind of gifts she was looking for. As you can see, we made the best of our circumstances. Adding ice cream and candy always makes a shopping trip worthwhile! Does anyone have any suggestions as to where we could find unique, American made, or Illinois theme gifts? I’d appreciate the tip!
